Well hello there – I’m Tom!
Welcome to Gamer Essentials! I’m so happy you decided to stop by.
So – who is this Tom then? I’m a guy from Northern Norway, of all places in the world. (No, there’s no polar bears in the streets there.) Born in 1980, married, father of two princesses.
Those were the days
I’ve been through much of the gaming evolution, both on pc and on console. From Pong on some ludicrous ancient console thingy, through some Nintendos and PlayStations, and of course, PCs and handhelds.
There are many game genres to choose from, but some of my favourites are first person shooters, platformers, role playing games and strategy games. Game titles like Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros, Zelda, Sid Meiers Civilization, Sim City, Duke Nukem 3D, Wolfenstein 3D and Doom sure brings back great memories.
I left my Super Nintendo with Super Mario World on overnight once, since I had over 2 million points in it. Unfortunately my dad turned it off, as he though I’d forgotten to do it. What a disappointment. I takes a while to gather that amount of points.. And no saving of score. *sigh*.
Remember when you went to LAN parties with your buddies to play multiplayer, before everything went online? I even linked up computers using null-modem cable, how many of you remember that? Took ages to copy files with it.. Improved when we started using network hubs (not switches, that came later on..).
Nowadays the big favourite is Battlefield V. It isn’t easy to find time to play games when you have a wife and kids demanding much of your day, but I manage to squeeze in some rounds now and then.
